One of my favorite quotes of all time is ...

"Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful."

William Morris

This rings true in so many ways! A home needs to be functional. A sofa to sit on, a bed to lay in, a table to enjoy meals. Function is vital for comfortable living. But there is more than just a minimalist, military approach to differentiating a house from a home; style!

A home needs to also be a place that holds objects that are important to you in your life's journey! A painting form your travels, the chair passed down from generation to generation, that great flea market find you snagged for $1.00!

These are the objects that tell your story. That remind you of the life you've lived and whats to come.

Place items in your home that are beautiful! And yes, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so unless you are selling your home you have free range to surround yourself with things that ignite a feeling in you (that doesn't mean others have to feel the same). Its your home! Your life! Your beauty!

Take a look around your home every 6 months and look for questionable objects. Ask yourself, is this beautiful? Is this functional? If you answered no to both, then its time to get it out! Holding on to useless things (not beautiful or functional) is where clutter begins to form. A home should always be edited, continuously.

Make your home your sanctuary and you will live each day with a smile on your face!

What should live in my home with me?
